Five Under £5 – November 2016
I joined in this challenge by Rainbeaubelle in September and then like everything I do at the moment, I had really good intentions of joining in during October. Before I knew it the end of October had arrived! I may be a little late, but here is my round up of little treats for the month of November.
The first thing that I found this month was this cute little porcelain tea-set to put away for Siena for Christmas. As I mentioned in a recent post I love Christmas so of course I have started doing a little bit of planning towards the big day (and when I say little, I mean little). Siena is only 3 and as you can see this set is for upwards of 8 years so I know that this will probably end up in pieces. She used to have one of Grace’s to play with but we have lost some pieces along the way, so I know she will love this. It was just £2.99 from B&M.
I am love with anything that creates a fragrance in my home and have recently been converted to wax melts. With two cats I often feel paranoid about the house smelling feline-like. These wax bars are from a locally run business called Bloom Candles which is run by the the daughter of a friend of my sister (that’s a mouthful in itself). Available in a range of different fragrances they smell as delicious as they sound. There’s a whole Christmas range available at the moment, but you’ll have to be quick as they sell out fast. Each wax bar costs £2.99.
I’m a big fan of quotes and when I am going through tough times, they give me a bit of a boost. I saw this one in Card Factory a little while back. I bought it for my sister as this year has been a tough year for her to say the least. I decided to buy myself one too. It was £1.49 (the wood is quite thin) it now has pride of place on my unfinished (soon to be finished) gallery wall in the hallway.
I’ve made no secret of the fact that I like to shop at Asda and I have written about their homewares in the past. I was shopping for a few bits recently and came across this adorable tea bag rest. It’s going to be part of a gift for someone at Christmas, although I think it will be too small for the amount of teabags they use in one day. I couldn’t resist though and it was only £1.50. It forms part of a collection in Asda that is called Woodshed and features a variety of woodland animals. I’m still trying to stop myself from buying the fox mug. I mean every kitchen should have a fox mug shouldn’t it?
We love hot chocolate and Grace has said that she would like to have a trip out to one of our favourite country parks which is about 30 miles away. It’s a place I used to go to as a child, with a nice lake to walk around and woods and an outdoor swimming pool, which I’ve always said I would like to try (not in the winter though). To make it a proper winter treat Grace has suggested that in lieu of our usual picnic we take flasks of hot chocolate and home-made cakes. I saw these chocolate stirrers in B&M and thought they would make the hot chocolate even more luxurious. Coming in a pack of three is perfect as there is no way that Siena would want one and most of the chocolate stirrers we have seen come in packs of two. These ones are 2.99 and they have three flavours, milk chocolate, chocolate orange and mint chocolate. Now the only dilemma will be who will be who picks which flavour.
So that is my little round up. I’m starting to think about what I will feature for December (planning is everything) but be prepared for a very yuletide themed haulette, it is my favourite time of year after all!
Why not join in yourself? It’s lots of fun and the perfect excuse to brighten up your month with some little purchases x
